FC Not Alone x Calm World Cup 2019

Over the weekend hundreds of men came together to play a football tournament, but it wasn’t any tournament, it was the FC Not Alone World Cup in partnership with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

32 teams went to battle on the football pitch but only one team could come out as champions. ‘Slight Edge’ (a team created by Kulture Klub) featuring players such as, Champions League winner Rhian Brewster, Hull City Midfielder, Kevin Stewart and Chilean International, Lawrence Vigoroux emerged as champions after intense final against Kulture Klub.

Although the completion levels were high, winning was not the sole purpose of the weekend’s tournament. It was a beautiful moment in which the male community shared to raise awareness about an increasingly worrying issue which is, men and their mental health. Currently 75% of suicides committed in the UK are by men. Coming together over the weekend was an amazing opportunity to spread a much needed message to men that ‘It is okay to not be okay’ and show them that they’re not alone.

FC Not Alone are providing a platform for men to share their stories and find an alternative route to help through the worlds most loved sport. To find out more about FC Not Alone check out their instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/fcnotalone/

Huge respect to the organisers and all of the volunteers on the day, you’re doing great things and a shoutout to calm for joining forces with such a great initiative.
